    Machining of metal is the process of processing metal products and other materials using mechanical action using a cutter, drill, milling cutter and other cutting tool. The processing process itself is carried out on metal-cutting machines, in the prescribed manner according to the technological process.

    Turning is a type of mechanical processing of a metal part by cutting the outer and inner surfaces due to the rotation of cylindrical and conical tips. This process includes: facing, parting, chamfering, filleting, grooving, cutting internal and external threads on lathes. The most common operation performed on lathes is the processing of the outer smooth and stepped cylindrical surfaces of the shafts. Depending on the size of the workpiece, it can be mounted on the machine in the centers, chuck or in a combined way. As a cutting tool for processing external and internal cylindrical and conical surfaces, pass-through or scoring cutters are used.

    Milling is a type of machining of a metal part in which the cutting element is a specialized cutter. A milling cutter is a cutting tool made in the form of a gear with many blades, which is clamped in a milling machine and rotated at high speed, removes layers of the workpiece surface in the place you need. As already mentioned, depending on the cutter used, there are several types of milling, namely:
    1) Face milling, the essence of which is to obtain a certain shape of parts using a face mill. This is necessary in most cases for cutting undercuts, grooves, windows and other elements in products. With its help, reverse milling of the end face is also performed from the inside of a different product plan. End, which are needed for the formation of ledges in planes of vertical or horizontal shape.
    2) Cylindrical, characterized by the production of products in the planes of the corresponding cutter in the reverse position.
    3) Toothed.

    Drilling of metal is a type of mechanical processing of a metal part in which holes of various diameters, depths and sections are obtained. Drilling work is usually carried out at one of the final stages of manufacturing a part after turning, milling and other types of mechanical metalworking. Drilling works are used to obtain holes in metal blanks for the following: threading, countersinking (increasing the diameter of the hole), reaming or boring. When drilling metal, reliable fastening of the part, accurate marking, correct sharpening of the cutting tool, feed and rotation speed are of great importance, affecting the final result of the workpiece.
